How do you intend to use the knowledge gained at the workshop? -------------------------------------------------------------- The knowledge will enable me to proactively monitor PO PSM network and prepare against contemporary cyber threats, like phishing , malwares etc. I will also be able to analyse any incidences to be able to properly mitigate any threats/attacks. ROLE IN NATIONAL NETWORKING ACTIVITIES ====================================== A description of your current employer, your position, your duties and responsibilities, and how they relate to current and future data networking activities in your country* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I am employed by the President's Office Public Service Management, as a Computer Systems analyst. Currently , i am responsible to oversee and manage Government communication network, which currently links five Core Ministries and two independent entities department. The Network provide direct voice service ,data communication and in the future will video communication ,dedicated to be used only by the Government and her institutions. Future plan , is to link all Ministries , independent departments and government agencies to secure data, and voice communications. In addition to the above, I am also responsible to manage PO PSM LAN , mail server and website. I am also responsible in management of Government Human Capital management system ,comprising of HR and Payroll Modules. These applications are currently implemented in Client - Server architecture. But the future plan , is to migrate to web based multi-tier implementation. Opening up web vulnerabilities. Thus, in order to protect government interests/information, CERT training will be of immense help to prepare us to better respond to any cyber attack ,and proactively monitoring our network against cyber crimes. The workshop will also impart knowledge on how to handle incidences related with bleach of information system security. I believe, these prepared a foundation upon which the CERT track will build upon in quest of how best to respond and handle incidents that may emerge in any corporate IS infrastructure.
